About Andrea Meyer

Andrea Meyer came to the Archives and Public History program after working in archival collections as both a researcher and an archivist, and she is very interested in engaging the public with the documented past. Andrea is currently completing the dual-degree program with the Palmer School. She completed her M.A. in Archives and Public History in May of 2010, and her M.L.I.S. from the Palmer School of Long Island University in August of 2010.

While completing classes, Andrea worked as an Archival Assistant in the Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives at Tamiment Library from September 2008 until the Spring of 2010. Andrea also worked with the John Jermain Memorial Library's Dorothy I. Zaykowski Sag Harbor History Room to survey and inventory their special collection on local history. In her spare time, Andrea is usually found researching the American Revolution, particularly spies like the Culper Spy Ring, which she worked with Amanda French to create an Omeka-based website about. Andrea also regularly attends American Revolution Round Table meetings and helps care for a Federal Era home on Eastern Long Island (which prompted her undergraduate interest in Historic Preservation) along with a nearby Old Burying Ground.
